The club has always provided a development pathway from child, to youth, to adult. Ever since North Kelvin began delivering their infamous ‘Wee Dribblers’ sessions across the community the club has ensured that there was always provision for young children to be introduced to the beautiful game.

The NK4s section has exploded in popularity over the past few years with many players being introduced to the club through our successful holiday sports camps.

Our NK4s currently play in the East Dumbartonshire Soccer Sevens Association (EDSSA) and play their games on Saturday mornings.

NK4 Football Development Officer –  Jonathan McFarlane

Football coaching has always been a great passion of mine. Even after graduating from Cardinal Newman High School in Bellshill and originally moving into a career in logistics I was eager to get involved in football coaching as a hobby and so went about gaining my Scottish FA coaching qualifications.

As a goalkeeper with success spells with Aberdeen, Celtic and Dumbarton I placed a particular focus in the early days on attaining my Goalkeeper certificates, where I now hold a Scottish FA UEFA Goalkeeping Licence.

During this time, I started working with Celtic FC Women as a coach and used my skills and experience as goalkeeper (safest pair of hands in the business) to become the head of their Goalkeeping Academy which would also lead me to becoming involved in the Scottish FA as the Head Goalkeeping Coach for the South West Region.

My passion for the game led me to pursue a career in coaching and as a mature student I returned to education in 2015 at Glasgow Kelvin College on their HND Sport Coaching and Football Development (Football Studies) course.  This has really allowed me to develop as a coach having now gained invaluable experience working on international and domestic programmes with the Celtic Foundation including elite talent ID, designing a goalkeeper coaching curriculum, coach education to partner clubs and sports holiday camps. Most recent coaching experience has included working with Glasgow Girls Football Club as Head Coach to the Development Squad and the 1st Team Assistant.

My role with NK4 allows me to thrive as a committed and passionate coach with the drive to inspire players and colleagues alike, working efficiently to ensure that players are given the tools they need to reach their full potential while simultaneously striving to develop personally.
