NKSDG would like to thank the Foyle Foundation for their donation of £5000 towards sustaining the post of Volunteer Coordinator. We would also like to publicly thank the other organisations that have previously funded, and continue to fund, the Volunteer Coordinator post including the Volunteer Action Fund, the Robertson Trust and the Gannochy Trust.
The role is vital at our organisation and oversees all 10 of our team’s coaches and volunteers to help them progress. We have at present 18 coach volunteers and 10 non-coach volunteers that have been recruited since May 2016. Their roles vary depending on their skills and the coordinator makes sure that all coaches remain current with coach education, first aid and in delivering training we expect as a club. A large part of the role is retaining coaches and developing them, making sure all our teams are registered to the leagues and the SYFA.
The biggest achievement has been to add a volunteer training qualification called Community Achievement Awards which are equivalent to a Higher. We plan to link with two schools to encourage pupils in Sixth Year to add real value to their CVs using this qualification.
Thanks again to all our funders!
