Summer Awards Event 2017

On Sunday 4th June North Kelvin Utd had their annual Summer Awards Event at the Maryhill Club. The awards event provides the club with  opportunity to get all our coaches, players and parents together to celebrate another fantastic year at North Kelvin Utd!

All youth players receive their team award and individual player awards for 'Player of the Year' and 'Most Improved Player' of the year awards are given out by team coaches. These events are always very well attended and it is such a joy to have players and parents represented at all age groups and allows the club to thank everybody for all of their hard work across the season. The end of season party also includes a full buffet with various fundraising activities held throughout the day.

This year the club introduced our new 'Volunteer of the Year' award that will be given out to reward the unsung heroes who make an invaluable contribution to the running of the club. Our volunteer of year for 2016/2017 was Joanna White who only joined the club committee last summer but since then has made an excellent contribution in her capacity as committee member, social media officer and dedicated parent and spectator! Congratulations Joanna!

This is our final social event of the season and allows all coaches, parents and players with a well-deserved break before preparations begin for the 2017-2018 season!

North Kelvin Summer Sports Camp!

This summer North Kelvin will be back with our annual Summer Sports Camp delivered in partnership with Sense Over Sectarianism.

The team will be returning to the Benview School Campus in to deliver another fun-filled 5-week multi-sport camp for young people aged 5 to 14 years. The camp runs from Monday to Friday between 10am and 3pm where qualified coaches deliver an action-packed week that includes skills and technical training for football, multi-sport activities and fun games.

At lunchtime staff from both SOS and Bridges and Barriers will deliver short and fun educational workshops that focus the importance of friendship building, respect, tolerance and responsibility. Each week will be given a specific theme where staff will deliver age specific activities that allow participants to explore that theme through group work, arts and crafts, drama and presentations in a fun and supportive environment.

Our camp has grown in popularity every year and is recognised as an excellent vehicle for reinforcing positive lifestyle messages to a group of young people who may otherwise be living sedentary lifestyles during the school holiday periods. Instead, they are physically active for 20 hours per week, learning new skills, making new friends and discussing important issues related to social responsibility. Crucially, our camp remains accessible for affordable for people living in our community.
