NKU are a SFA Quality Mark Development Club, we provide coach education, expenses and full training kit. We can also provide further education for young coaches through our partnership with Youth Scotland.

The club’s ethos is to promote inclusiveness, opportunity and access for all irrespective of background.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, develop and retain players at all age group.

  • Recruit, develop and retain an enthusiastic and committed coaching team.

  • Deliver the club coaching philosophy at all age levels.

  • To plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate the coaching programme to develop all team players.

  • To ensure that all coaches deliver the club coaching philosophy with pre-prepared coaching plans.

  • To deliver regular coaching CPD sessions to all club coaches.

  • Ensure that you are well briefed about any special needs of the players involved i.e. medical condition/disabilities.

  • Make players aware of their progress.

  • Abide by and promote sound ethics and club policy, child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members.

  • Develop your own skills by attending SFA coach education courses, sports coach UK courses and any in-service training that is organised by the club.

  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the equipment is correct and is kept in good working order.

  • Be aware of and promote the clubs codes of conduct for coaches and players at all times.

  • Be aware of and follow the procedures for recording accidents.

  • Be aware of the club’s Health and Safety policy and Emergency procedures and take responsibility for Health and Safety aspects during activities.

  • Ensure that there is an accessible, well-stocked first aid kit at the venue and a telephone nearby.

  • Provide information on sports science and lifestyle guidance.


Bridges & Barriers Sessional Coach

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undergo staff training and shadowing of experienced staff in Glasgow for approximately 6 hours before 1st October 2019.

  • Working 6 hours per week from 1st October 2019 until March 31st 2020 (once funding period is over).

  • Leading the delivery of every workshop of the Bridges & Barriers at various primary school locations around North Ayrshire.

  • Communicating directly with Project Coordinator, Project Officer and NKS Staff.

  • Communicating directly with North Ayrshire Active Schools and North Ayrshire Primary School staff (including Office Staff, Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, Principal Teachers, Classroom Teachers, Support Staff and appointed adults.

  • Managing time and behaviour of pupils.

  • Promoting anti-sectarian awareness education in schools as per the B&B model as well as focussing on equality issues to give a broader perspective on subjects such as discrimination.

  • Contributing to collecting evidence for the project (approved footage with pictures and video of pupils in their workshops and playing games; starter and follow up tests; feedback forms, testimonials etc).

  • Contributing to social media posts and promotions (one Twitter post for each session).

  • Good grammar and ICT/writing skills (Social Media posts need to be of a high standard and represent NKSDG’s core values).
